Sub floor preparation:
- The moisture content in a concrete subfloor must be lower than 75%.
- The subfloor must be level and smooth, if is not floor leveller need to be applied.
- Any paint, wax, sealants, adhesives, and debris need to be removed.
- It is necessary to install a Damp proof Membrane on top of a concrete slab to enable moisture.
Solid Oak planks or blocks should be acclimatised by stacking them in the room where they are to be laid for at least 2 weeks prior to laying. Any wet trades should be completed and any plaster, screed etc. properly dry. Once the subfloor is prepared installation can be started.
Fitting Square Edge Parquet:
Parquet flooring blocks need to adhere to the subfloor with specialist flexible adhesive. Once the floor is lay down the parquet need to be sanded with belt sander, belts grid 40, 80, 120.
After sanding with abrasive grid 120, sawdust from these sanding needs to be mixed with resign and all the small gaps need to be closed. When the mixture is dry the floor needs to be sanded once again with belt grid 120. For the best final result, we do recommend to polish the floor with Buffing Machine discs grid 150. The floor is ready for application of either oil or lacquer.
Unfinished tumbled Parquet or Micro bevel parquet after fitting do require polishing with 120 grid sanding paper. All prefinished floors are ready to be used straight after fitting.
